Goods Vehicle Operator Licences
Does your business use a goods vehicle? Do you have a Goods Vehicle Operator Licence? You are required to have a Goods Vehicle Operator Licence if your business uses a goods vehicle with either a gross plated weight of over 3,500 kilograms or an unladen weight of more than 1,525 kilograms.
There are three different licence types:
- Standard National Licence – this licence allows you to carry your own goods in the UK and internationally and also other people’s goods in the UK.
- Standard International Licence – this type of licence allows you to carry your own goods and other people’s goods both in the UK and when on international journeys. Once you have obtained the standard international licence, you can also request the issue if a UK Licence for the Community.
- Restricted Licence – This licence allows you to carry your own goods but not other people’s goods.
